The State Of Mobile Recruiting [INFOGRAPHIC]

Recruiting leaders that ignore mobile should be waterboarded according to Dr. John Sullivan, a well-known thought leader in HR. Career sites are not mobile friendly but the way we consume information is going via the mobile web at a huge pace. Due to the explosion of the smartphone and tablet sales, mobile internet usage will be larger than fixed internet in 2013 [read more about this in our Future of Mobile Recruiting series]. In fact, 92% of of the Fortune 100 companies ingnore the mobile channel. In the top 35 US Firms only 4 Career Sites are mobile-friendly and 1 company offers a native mobile (career) app.

“The recruitment industry took 15 years to migrate from print media to digital media”, says Dave Martin who’s Head of Mobile and Product Strategy at BraveNewTalent. “Social media has kickstarted recruitment innovation and created a new focus on community based recruitment. But disappointingly the employers have failed to maximize on mobile web or mobile apps. Given the intrinsic partnership between social and mobile web, it is crucial for employers around the wold to recognise and engage with mobile”.

Mobile is growing fast, are you?

A brutal message and daring concept, published with an innovative media strategy

In China, practically all companies are at high risk of losing one out of every five employees in their race for better opportunities and a better future. Research has shown that 20% of employees in China intend to leave their employer within a year. That is twice as much as in most other countries. As multinational companies like Deloitte continue to grow in China, they have created an enormous demand for qualified graduates and experienced professionals. Unfortunately, demand is exceeding the supply, and Deloitte must fight among the other Big Four and against a rising tide of domestic Chinese competitors in the financial industry. It’s no wonder that on top of every company’s Board of Director’s agenda are the two topics: “How to recruit the best talent?” and “How to reduce employee turnover?A brutal message and daring concept, published with an innovative media strategy

Employment Outlook: Hiring expectations in Q4-2011 weaken but remain positive

According to the Manpower Employment Outlook Survey of global hiring trends released today, employers in 21 of 39 countries expect the fourth-quarter hiring pace to soften from the third quarter. However, Net Employment Outlooks remain in positive territory and are stronger than they were last year at this time in the majority of countries and territories that ManpowerGroup surveys. Other findings include:

  • Employers in Brazil, Taiwan, India and Singapore report the strongest job prospects, while hiring plans are weakest in Greece and Italy. Employers in Israel and Slovakia are surveyed for the first time this quarter.
  • Job prospects in the Asia Pacific region remain strong, despite expectations among employers in India and China to slow hiring from three months ago.
  • In Europe, labor market trends follow the same mixed results seen throughout 2011, with positive hiring activity expected in 18 of 23 countries surveyed.
  • In the Americas, employers in Brazil report the most optimistic hiring intentions for the quarter ahead. In contrast, U.S. employers expect to continue their cautious hiring approach through the end of the year.

80% of all companies use Social Media to recruit

Is recruiting via social media effective? And how do you determine wether those efforts are succesful? That’s the question being asked as more and more businesses are investing in increasing amounts of social media recruiting.  With no standard means of measurement, there’s a wide variety of goals and metrics used to define the ROI of social strategies. Currently 64% of companies said they have succesfully hired via social media. Already 80.2% of companies are using Social Media to recruit and another 8.7% of companies are planning to begin this year (results of Jobvite survey, July 2011).
