Twitter and LinkedIn. What’s happening?

I’m finalising my research for a new 2011 edition of my book ‘Recruitment via LinkedIn‘ and noticed a strange thing. The number of Tweets in my growing list of connections has dropped considerably.

Four months ago, on 20 September 2010, I had 425 direct connections out of approximately 1150 who added their Twitter account to their LinkedIn profile. That’s approximately one third of total connections. But yesterday, more than 4 months later, I noticed that only 294 of my, slowly growing number of 1263, connections were on Twitter. Or I should say, 23% have added their Twitter account to their LinkedIn profile. This means a drop of 131 (-10%) !

Everything you wanted to know about LinkedIn – UK statistics and trends 2011

On request by UK newspaper City A.M., I’ve compiled a list of facts and figures about the usage of LinkedIn in the United Kingdom. Did you know that the LinkedIn.com site has 4,712,656 UK members at this moment?

This month I expect they will break the 4 Million barrier of people that will visit LinkedIn.com in the UK. In fact, on the 4th of January 2011 LinkedIn.com had the most visitors ever: 498 thousand in one day. This may not become as big surprise as the first working day / week is one of the busiest days in Recruitment.

The number of monthly visitors at LinkedIn.com (directly measured) keeps on growing spectacular:
